The Ginko Biloba tree originally from China and a centuries old species flourishes in the dell at Kirstenbosch Gardens in Cape Town. Bright pink and yellow flowers are seen beneath the summer foliage.

I was born in 1941 in the Orkney Islands north of Scotland where my father was stationed in the air force. My mother was an artist and I spent my childhood years in North Wales with my maternal grandmother until the war was over when I was reunited with my mother in London.
