A young girl sits facing the viewer. She has blue eyes and wavy long hair. Her blue summer dress is sleeveless and her arms rest on the book that she is reading which is on her lap. I was born in 1941 in the Orkney Islands north of Scotland where my father was stationed in the air force. My mother was an artist and I spent my childhood years in North Wales with my maternal grandmother until the war was over when I was reunited with my mother in London.
