A long breaker moves towards the shore beneath grassy and rocky dunes as the early morning sun highlights the mass of cloud approaching over the ocean. Bright crimson and orange flowering aloes make a colorful contrast to the cooler hueed seas below.

I was born in 1941 in the Orkney Islands north of Scotland where my father was stationed in the air force. My mother was an artist and I spent my childhood years in North Wales with my maternal grandmother until the war was over when I was reunited with my mother in London.
