The manor house with its Cape Dutch gables is shown surrounded by a garden, trees and vineyards. The afternoon sun casts a shadow from an elegant palm tree in the foreground and on the swimming pool deck beside the house people are walking and relaxing. The cream coloured sunshades make a bright accent in the painting.

I was born in 1941 in the Orkney Islands north of Scotland where my father was stationed in the air force. My mother was an artist and I spent my childhood years in North Wales with my maternal grandmother until the war was over when I was reunited with my mother in London.
